TOMORROW'S TRANSMUTATION
Master Ottokar Brandt, the court alchemist, claims he has turned copper into gold. Tomorrow at noon he will do it again before Emperor Rudolf II, who has promised him a pension and a noble title in return.
You are an apprentice in the laboratory. Tonight Brandt is out at dinner. On the workbench: his grimoire, two golden ingots, and a note slipped under your door: “It isn't magic. It's theft. Prove it before noon. — A friend at the Treasury”
Four rooms, one investigation: each experiment gives you a result you will need in the next one. Everything goes into your case file.
